Colonel Ronald D. Storer

Col Storer entered the Marine Corps June 1989 At MCRD San Diego, CA. Upon completion of boot camp he reported to Marine Corps Ready Reserve unit C Co, 4th Tank Battalion, Boise, Idaho where he was assigned as an 1811 M60 Tank Crewman. During the next year LCpl Storer, with his unit was activated and deployed to take part in Operation Desert Shield/Storm. LCpl Storer served with C Co 4th Tanks until 1995, when he graduated Boise State with a Bachelor’s degree in History and an Associate in Criminal Justice and Law enforcement. Sergeant Storer reported to Quantico, Virginia to attend Officer Candidates School during the summer of 1996.

Upon completion of OCS, 2ndLt Storer reported to The Basic School where he graduated in May of 1997 with the MOS of 1801 Armor Officer. 2ndLt Storer reported to Fort Knox Kentucky during the summer of 1997 and completed Armor officer Basic and the Scout Platoon Leaders Course, earning the 1802 MOS.  He then reported to 2d Tank Battalion 2d Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Once at 2d Tank Bn 2ndLt Storer served as an M1A1 tank Platoon Commander, tank Company Executive Officer, AT-TOW Platoon Commander, and a tank Company Commander. 1st Lt Storer executed orders to the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory, Quantico, Virginia, and was assigned as the Training Officer in Charge of urban tactics techniques and procedures “PROJECT METROPOLIS”.  In August 2002 he returned to Fort Knox Kentucky to attend the Armor Captains Career Course.

Upon Completion of the course Captain Storer reported to 2d Tank Battalion, 2d Marine Division, II MEF and deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Assistant Operations Officer for the Battalion. On April 4th 2003 outside of Baghdad, Captain Storer assumed command of Company C 2d Tank Battalion. Upon returning from Operation Iraqi Freedom, Captain Storer remained with Company C then relinquished command in July of 2004, when he was assigned as the S-4 Logistics Officer for 2d Tank Battalion.

In July of 2005 Captain Storer transferred from 2d Tank Battalion to 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division and was assigned as the Inspector-Instructor for C Company 4th Tank Battalion, Boise, Idaho. He was promoted to Major in October 2006. In July 2008 attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College graduating with a Masters of Military Studies in June 2009.

Major Storer received orders to 1st Tank Battalion to serve as the Battalion Executive Officer. During his tour he served as the XO for Black Sea Rotational Force 2010 spending four months in the Black Sea region conducting Theater Security Cooperation. In December of 2010 Major Storer led a small team of Marines into Afghanistan to establish the first tank company in support of OEF.

In July of 2011 Major Storer reported for duty at Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group, 29 Palms, California. Major Storer worked as the Current Operations Officer, Exercise Control Officer, and the Instructor Group OIC.  Filling these billets, Major Storer developed exercises for battalion and regimental staffs training in support of OEF and crisis response. He acted as a mentor to over 200 Operations/Intelligence and Tactics Instructor students and managed all four periods of instruction as the Formal Schools Manager.  Major Storer was promoted to LtCol on 1 August 2013 and was selected for command later that month. 

LtCol Storer took command of Inspector-Instructor Staff 4th Tank Bn, 4th Marine Division July 2014 and relinquished command July 2016.  LtCol Storer was selected for Top Level School and attended the Army War College graduating with a Masters of Strategic Studies June 2017. 

Upon graduating the Army War College LtCol Storer reported to U.S. Central Command J5 Plans Division.  He led the Central and South Asia Branch of J5 Plans.  While the Branch Chief he lead several Joint, combined, interagency Operational Planning teams focused on operation “FREEDOM’S SENTINEL” and the South Asia Strategy.  LtCol Storer was promoted to the rank of Colonel 3 June 2019.

Col Storer checked into Marine Air Ground Combat Center July 2019 and was assigned as the Assistant Chief of Staff/G3/5/7 Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command Training.  In this capacity Col Storer manages Service Level Training as well as range operations.

Col Storer assumed command of the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Center 1 July 2022.

Col Storer’s personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with combat distinguishing device for valor and three gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon with gold star, Marine Corps Reserve Good Conduct Medal with one bronze star and the Outstanding Volunteer Medal.
